Horses! All kinds, all breeds, all uses.
People! Working together for a common cause, horse welfare and the betterment of the horse industry.
The Massachusetts association of Stable Owners, Operators and Instructors (MASOOI) was founded in May of 1988. The goal is to unite horse/equine fanciers to provide improved horse welfare and to better the horse industry. Whether you own just one horse, a stable of horses or a breeding stable with many horses, we encourage you to join MASOOI. Our increasing numbers can help us create positive legislative change.
Since 1988 our members have spent many hours working with horse industry groups and the state legislature. Members of MASOOI have been instrumental in changing the wording of original bills, communicating with legislators and promoting legislation to further the growth and safety of the industry, without unnecessarily burdening horse owners, large or small.
MASOOI helped defeat State Ballot Question #3, concerning animal rights
Worked with other organizations to pass the Equine Liability Law
Worked to defeat unfair and unrealistic Carriage Horse Bills, specifically a 1994 law that would have been detrimental to the whole horse industry
Working with other organizations to promote Sales Tax Bills, that are fair to the industry and individual horse owners alike
All of us involved with horses need to take the time to devote to our industry. We need to promote our industry, protect our rights, share resources and work together. There is a continuing necessity to make legislative impact at a local, state and national level. These are issues that affect all of us. If we don't address them, who will?
